Unique single-track absolute scale

This technology provides RESOLUTE with far wider set-up tolerances for quick and easy installation and superior long-term reliability.

RTLA absolute linear scale with orientation markPlease note that only RTLA scales feature a line that indicates orientation of the scale; holding the scale horizontally in front of you, when the orientation line is above the coded graduations, the lowest position value is on the left-hand end of the scale. The orientation line is not seen by the readhead and is not a second track. Therefore the readhead/scale system maintains the benefits of being a single-track system.

IP64 sealed body

Tough machined aluminium body is sealed to IP64 to resist ingress of oil, coolant or water. If a seal fails on axis and the readhead is splashed with liquid, simply drain the enclosure and replace the seal, wipe the readhead and scale, then start work again.

Rugged and reliable serial communications

All processing and interpolation electronics are contained inside the readhead, meaning that the only signals going through cables are digital differential signals in serial communications format. Noise rejection is excellent and furthermore, CRC checks are carried out inside the readhead and controller to ensure the serial word has been transmitted correctly.

High-flex, double-screened cable

Designed to meet the demands of high-speed linear motor axes, RESOLUTE is fitted with a cable that achieves more than 20 million flex cycles and also incorporates double shielding for superior noise immunity. The cable is equally well suited to rotary axes where it is held in a fixed position. UL approved.

Advanced optical detection scheme

RESOLUTE™ absolute optical encoder internal concept drawing

Think of RESOLUTE as an ultra-fast miniature digital camera, taking photos of a scale that consists of a long, non-repeating bar code. RESOLUTE analyses these photos to determine position to resolutions as small as 1 nanometre with remarkable low noise (jitter) and SDE. This provides smoother velocity control and rock-solid positional stability.

Built-in position-checking algorithm

RESOLUTE features a built-in separate and independent position checking algorithm. This actively checks every reading, ensuring any potential problem is flagged long before it reaches the controller.

High dirt immunity

RESOLUTE uses a state-of-the-art DSP (Digital Signal Processor) to analyse and decipher the code redundancy and cross-checking. Combined with advanced optics, the effects of dirt and contamination are significantly rejected.
